Alexander was born in 1836 in Canada East (Québec).[1] In 1860 he lived with his wife Mary Jane and daughters Nellie and Addie in Houndsfield, Jefferson, New York.[2] In 1880 he worked as a coal miner in Pennsylvania.[3]
