Biography

Alexander Christie, known as Alec, was born in York, England on 3 Oct 1860 to parents John Christie and Margaret Towers .

On 14 Sept 1887, he married Norah Fleck, who was from Redcar, North Yorkshire. He and Norah had two children, a daughter, Nora Louise Fleck Christie, born in Leeds, and a son, John Frederick Towers Christie, born in Burnley, Lancashire. In the 1891 census his occupation is given as "mercantile bookkeeper".

In the Christie family he was regarded as the black sheep of the family. He apparently left his wife Norah with the children and moved to Hull, where he worked in some connection with trawlers. He did not keep in contact with the Christie family after that time. His wife and two children appear to have returned to Leeds.

The death record confirms that Alec Christie had moved to Hull. He died there in about December 1934.
