Text: "There was a majority of the congregation residing in the lowervillage and Old Barns, consequently the lower place was chosen as the place for the church. At a meeting held July 6, 1772, it was resolved that mils, glass, etc... for the outside of the Meeting House be got immediately. CONT Eliakem Tupper took a contract to complete the inside of the church and the workman who finished it was John Christie who came out from Scotland in the same ship with Mr. Cock and his family in the summer of 1772, and Daniel MacKenzie. CONT This was the only church in Truro until about 1821 when the Episcopalions erected their church in the east end of the Village on the present site of St. Johns Church..."

Captain Robert Christie married John Christie's daughter Martha Christie. Robert Christie was the son of John Christie's brother. Not sure where Richard came from. It's in the Cholchester County book.
