Margaret Christie was born about 1830 at Ceres, Fife. In 1851, just prior to her marriage to Sim Lockhart, she was living at Monimail and working as a servant. [1]
As was customary, her marriage was proclaimed in the home parish of each party: on 22 Aug 1851 at Sim Lockhart's home of Kettle, and on 30 Aug 1851 at Creich, Margaret Christie's home. In the proclamation at Creich, the husband's name was spelled "Symn" rather than "Sim". [2]
