Elizabeth Christie was born in Scotland about 1800.
Elizabeth Christie married John Wallace on 26th November 1824 in North Leith. They had nine children, eight born in Scotland, one in NSW.
The family sailed on the ship 'Hero' from Leith, May 7, 1839[1] and arrived in NSW September 26, 1839 - she stated birth-place to be Perthshire and her age to be 35 but this latter may be an 'understatement' to meet immigrant age rules - a common occurrence; initially settled at the Paterson River, then at their property "Marchfield", on Dingo Creek, Wingham.
Elizabeth died in 1875[2] and is buried in Wingham cemetery[3].
