1930 On 6 April 1930 Jane and elder daughter Helen went on an extended visit to the USA sailing to New York on the Tuscania from Glasgow. During their time in the USA they visited her brothers Robert and David and their wives Elizabeth and Barbara. They returned to Scotland later that year.

From 1937 to 1939 they lived at 63 Orchard Street ,Aberdeen before moving to 21 Short Loanings, Rosemount, Aberdeen.
1938 Birth of son, George
1941 Birth of daughter Isabella Cormack known in family as Isabel
1943 Informed by postcard and letter dated July 1943 that husband George had been prisoner of war of the Japanese since February 1942. No further official news until December 1945 when informed by letter that George had died on 31 December 1943 on the Burma - Thailand railway. This was 5 months after the surrender of Japan.

Jane Anderson Christie lived through two World Wars and the Depression, was widowed twice with very young family, first in 1929 with Ella age 5 and Barry age 1, then again in 1943 with Ella, Barry and George age 5 and Isabel age 2.
