Elizabeth Chubb was born on 11 Nov 1737 and baptised on 15 Nov at St Nicholas of Myra, Rochester, Kent, England. She was the daughter of Joseph Chubb and his wife Sarah.[1]
Elizabeth married John Nicholson, on 1 July 1760 by licence at St Nicholas of Myra, Rochester. Both were said to be living in the parish, and their witnesses were Jno Chubb and Catherine Chubb.[2]
The couple had four sons, of whom two died in infancy. Their eldest son died in his late teens, four years after Elizabeth's own death:
The first three children were baptised in Rochester - William at St Nicholas and Samuel and Joseph at St Margaret - but their fourth son was baptised in Chatham and this is where the parish register recorded the family as living when Elizabeth died on 15 Sep 1776.[3]She was buried at St Nicholas of Myra, Rochester on 19 Sep 1776.[4]
Elizabeth wife of John Nicholson is commemorated on a plaque on the wall of St Nicholas of Myra, along with her eldest son, William, and a daughter of her husband's second marriage.[5]
