Biography

European Aristocracy
John Chudleigh was a member of the aristocracy in England.

He acquired the manor of Ashton circa 1320.

In 1340, "Johann de Chuddeleghe" was charged to assist Abbot Simon (de Plympton, 15th August, 1330-1345), of Torre Abbey, to collect the tax on fleeces. (Ref: Cartulary of Torre Abbey)

In 1344, Sir Roger de Nonant and his wife Isabel (daughter of Sir Wm. Boville) conveyed the manor of Cliston to John de Chuddelegh. (Ref: Collections of Devon)
