Armistead Churchill Jr. is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A021851.

Armistead Churchill was the son of Armistead and Hannah (Harrison) Churchill of "Bushby Park" in Middlesex County, Virginia and the grandson of William and Elizabeth (Armistead) Churchill, and of Col. Nathaniel and Mary (Cary) Harrison of "Wakefield." Armistead, son of Armistead Churchhill & Hannah, was born on 25 November 1733 and baptised on 14 December 1733 in Christchurch, Middlesex, Virginia.[1]

On February 14th, 1761 in Northumberland County, Virginia, Armistead Churchill married Elizabeth Blackwell, daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth (Steptoe) Blackwell of "Walnut Lodge" in Northumberland County. After his marriage to Elizabeth he removed to Fauquier County with two of Elizabeth's uncles and there they made their home till 1785 when they removed once again - this time to the fertile lands and wilds of western Kentucky. They traveled with members of the Blackwell family till they came to Jefferson County, Kentucky where Armistead Churchill established a plantation he called "Blenheim" a few miles south of the present site of Louisville, Ky. Here, he, his wife, and many of their children lie buried.

They had ten children and in recording them in his family Bible he changes the spelling of his surname with the record of the birth of his sixth child. His children were:

  1. Elizabeth Churchill, b. 20 April 1762;
  2. Armistead Churchill, b. 22 April 1763;
  3. William Churchill, b. 10 June 1765;
  4. John Churchill, b. 26 January 1767;
  5. Henry Churchill, b. 10 December 1768;
