Biography

This is the profile of the Sarah Clark of Saybrook Connecticut who married first Samuel Willard then married second (and was the second wife of) Nathaniel Pratt.

Parentage and birth

The search continues for a record of the birth or baptism of Sarah Clark. Jacobus concluded that she was born in Saybrook about 1662 to John Clark and Rebecca Porter[1][2][3] Rebecca Porter is well known to researchers of the genealogy of Gerard Spencer of Haddam as the woman who likely married Gerard after the death of John ("being Killed by a Cart over-turned upon him") and the death of Gerard's first wife Hannah ___ (for further details see the profiles of Rebecca (Porter) Spencer (bef.1630-1682) and Gerard Spencer (bef.1614-bef.1685)).

First marriage and children

Sarah married Samuel Willard in Saybrook on 6 June 1683.[4][5][6][7]

Sarah and Samuell had at least 4 children, all documented on the page (just cited) of the Saybrook Land Records:[8][9]

  1. Sarah, b. 16 Sep 1689, d. 27 Sep 1689
  2. Samuel, b. 8 May 1693
  3. Joseph, b. 23 July 1696
  4. Methetabell, b. b. 23 Jul 1700, d. 30 May 1702

Samuel's death on 19 Jan 1716 was documented on the same page of the Saybrook Land Records.

Second marriage and children

"Sarah Willard" married second to Nathaniel Pratt (1661-1744) on 21 January 1718.

Death

Sarah, "wife of Samuel Willard", died Jan 25, 1722/3.[7]

Hi Malcolm, Do you have any more information on Joseph & Sarah Clark? It would be nice if there was just a hint as to who they are, when they are, where they are. Your source isn't available to see on the internet, it's too new. Thank you.
