Biography
James was born about 1636. He married Abigail Lothrop on October 7, 1657, in Plymouth.[1] and had seven children. He died in Plymouth before 17 Jun 1730, when his will was sworn to in probate court.[2][3]
Children named in his will and probate file (birth order uncertain):[2]
James Clarke of Plymouth made his will[2] dated 24 May 1711, in which he made bequests to his son John Clarke, his "Dear & Loving wife Abigail Clarke," son James Clarke and his heirs his entire estate after death of his wife (sole executor), his son Thomas, four daughters Susannah, Abigail, Joanna & Bathshua. Witnesses: Hezekiah Bosworth, Nathll Clarke, Ephraim Little Jun.
A codicil, dated 25 November 1713, was added naming a bequest to son Thomas of his interest in a cedar swamp held in partnership with Joseph Bartlett two miles off of Long Pond bought of an Indian.
June 17, 1730, Hezekiah Bosworth made oath that he witnessed James Clark sign his will.
June 26, 1730, Samuel Cornish & Susannah his wife, Nathll Holmes & Joanna his wife, of Plymouth, and Richd. Litchfield and Bathsheba his wife of Scituate, all filed a remonstrance against the will stating that the witnesses to the will were all deceased and the testator, many years after making his will, had given away all his lands & real estate to his son James, except a 30 acre lot which he passed to his grandson James, by deed. So had the witnesses been living, the ought not to be sworn to prove a revoked will.
04 October 1731 at Marshfield the will and codicil of James Clark late of Plymouth deceased was proved and allowed.
27 Nov 1756, Susannah Cornish release of further claims against estate.[4]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with James:
Could someone with project privilege's please add James Clark Jr (1680-aft.1731) as a child of James and Abigail. He was the sole executor of his father's will. His son, James Jr. had a son named Lothrop. Thank you.
I investigated the full probate file for James Clarke, added a timeline with the details. There is a link in the source I added. It appears that he was deceased before 17 June 1730. There was some court action by the daughters and husbands before the will was proved and allowed.
