Biography

"Mary Haskall ye daughter of John Haskall was borne ye 4 July 1684" at Middleborough, Plymouth, Massachusetts.[1]

There is a marriage recorded between a Mary Haskell and Scotto Clark of Harwich on Cape Cod on 17 APR 1706 at Rochester, Plymouth, Massachusetts. However, an article in The American Genealogist contains a thorough discussion of the children of John Haskell and Patience Soule[2] in which the authors cast doubt on the marriage of John's daughter Mary Haskell to Scotto Clark. There were two Mary Haskells, approximately the same age, living in the neighboring towns of Middleborough and Rochester. The authors argue convincingly that the Mary Haskell who married Scotto Clark at Rochester was probably the daughter of Mark Haskell, not the daughter of John. They posit that John's daughter Mary died sometime between the death of her parents and the settlement of legal matters regarding the estate in 1709-1712.

The General Society of Mayflower Descendants no longer accepts that Scotto Clark's wife was Mary, the daughter of John Haskell.

Clark-1732 and Clarke-5230 appear to represent the same person because: They have the same date of birth and the same date of death. They have the same parents. The only question is the spelling of the first and last names.

Clark-17276 and Clark-1732 do not represent the same person because: The General Society of Mayflower Descendants no longer accepts that Scotto Clark's wife was Mary, the daughter of John Haskell.
