She was born July 24, 1893 in Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois, and died January 21, 1969 in Evanston, Illinois. CONT CONT Notes for FREDRICK CLARK BUSINGER: CONT Originally had Frederick as being born in 1880 in Mattoon Illinois as stated by his daughter, Ruth Businger Clark. In the Colorado 1920 Census, it indicates that Fredrick was born in Indiana, not Mattoon. Since Mattoon is only about 40 miles from Indiana (near Terra Heute), he may have moved early in his life to Mattoon. This census also indicates he was age 37 in 1920, having him born in 1882 or 1883 vice 1880. On Evelyn C. Businger's Birth Certificate it shows Frederick (her father) being 30 years old, which makes him being born in 1882. It also indicates he was born in Indiana. This is the location of their home on Evelyn Businger's Birth Certificate, and also on the cancelled postcard he sent his sister in 1914. Fred had ten sisters. Fred was the last male Businger in the family. His daughter Evelyn Cecelia Businger Tekampe said she had a "tad" (1/4) Bohemian in her, and 3/4 German. August 29, 1911, Fremont Center, Lake, Illinois; d. January 21, 1995, Pinellas Park, Florida. CONT CONT Notes for EVELYN CECELIA BUSINGER: CONT On the day Evelyn died, her husband Leo said to his son Bob, "Bob, do you know what today is? Valentines Day and my sweetheart left me!" The readings at her funeral were from Proverbs 31, verse 9, The Ideal Wife, to epitomize Evelyn. Being in the military at the time, Bob stood guard by his mother at the wake, and saluted her on his departure. At her funeral, Father Paul Cull eulogized her in the following words. "First impressions are lasting. In 1955 or 1956, Evelyn called frantically to the rectory to have the priest come to the house. Evelyn stated that her boys had skipped school and were playing cards in the kitchen. I remember the family always saying the rosary after dinner around the table; I was impressed. Evelyn's dedication to the Chicago Cubs was unlike most anyone else of her age. I could tell if the Cubs won or lost the day or night before by Evelyn's mood. If she was feeling great, the Cubs had won. Evelyn was the pillar of strength for her family. Being the center of the family, she will continue to be the guiding force in the family from her place in heaven. Unlike others of us, Evelyn, through her sufferings and devotion on earth, has a special place already in heaven." CONT CONT Evelyn went with her parents out west at a very early age, through Wyoming to eventually settle in Denver, Colorado about 1917 when she was 5. Her father, a pharmacist, died when she was 8, and the money left to her mother was quickly gone, "cheated from her by shisters" per Evelyn. Penniless, her mother Matilda took her children to Chicago, where she had some remote family, and left Evelyn (8) and Ruth (6) in Mercy Orphanage. The two grew up in the orphanage managed by the Sisters of Mercy, attending Mercy school, and after high school, Evelyn attended the 3 year nursing program at Mercy Hospital, where she became a registered nurse (RN) CONT CONT More About EVELYN CECELIA BUSINGER: CONT Burial: February 17, 1981, Libertyville, Lake Co., Illinois CONT Occupation: Registered Nurse CONT Resided: 1934, Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois CONT CONT Notes for LEO JOHN TEKAMPE: CONT Leo was born at his parents farm house on Fremont Center Road, Fremont Center, Illinois.
