Note

Note: Funeral Announcement for Albert James Clark The death of Albert James Clark of Nipawin, took place at Moose Jaw on December 16th, from pneumonia, after three weeks in the hospital. The deceased was born in Shelburne, Ontario, and camewest in 1912, settling in Crane Valley. He came to Nipawin in 1932,engaging indairying and farming. He was fifty one years of age. A short funeral service was conducted by Rev. Mr. Smith of the Free Methodist Church at Moose Jaw before the body was shipped to Nipawin for interment. He had 4 brothers- William N. Winnipeg John (Jack) - Red Pheasant Tom - Red Pheasant Norman- Melfort, Sask 3 sisters- Mrs. G. Johnson (Maggie) Mrs. R. Woods (Bella) Shelbourne, Ont. Mrs. C. McManus (Cassie (Catherine -Saskatoon, Sask 7 sons- Ivan, Emerald, Orlin, Harold, Donald, Marshall & Keith 2 daughters-Mrs. Gordon Botting (Murleen)of Moose Jaw & Gladys of Nipawin The family moved to Nipawin in about 1932. The sons, Sandy and Marshall, rode horses and herded 50 head of horses (300 miles, while Albert rode the train with the cattle. The day that they were moving Emerald developed a very large lump on his neck. His mother, Eliza, used his father`s razor and lanced it. When they got him to the hospital in Moose Jaw, the doctor said that she had saved his life. Aunt Gladys also told us about Albert leaving home at age 9. He went to his brother William , whose wife Violet would not let himsleep in the house, so William let him sleep in the barn and took food out to him. She said that during the `dirty 30`s` it was so dry that when they set thetable for a meal, they had to put a sheet over the dishes until they were ready to eat, because of the dust. Uncle Ivan (who used to visit Elvin & Mona twicea year on his way to and from the coast) homesteaded right next to Albert JamesClark and family in Crane Valley, Sask. The Thomas Gamble and wife Elizabeth (Montgomery) history in the history book `Terrell 101` tells that their daughter Gertrude married Albert Clark and moved to Fannystelle, Manitoba, then on to Bliss Lake (Crane Valley) district around 1914, and farmed there until the Thirties , when they moved to Nipawin, Sask.
