I went to Pioneers and Soldiers Memorial Cemetery in South Minneapolis Minnesota Lake St and Cedar Ave to see the site where Henry B Clark, my Great Grandfather, was buried. When I got there the women who were taking care of the office said Henry B Clark was no longer there. She explained that there was a very shady cemetery owner and he had wanted the valuable land in Minneapolis to be a Ford plant or a strip mall. So he sent out letters to the family members of the people in the cemetery saying the land was going to condemned and they had to move their beloved. The city got wind of what this shady owner was doing and stopped him from his endeavor. But not before some percent of people had moved their loved ones. Among them was my Great Grandfather. He was moved to Hillside Cemetery in Northeast Minneapolis, but his grave was unmarked. Ninety years later, my mother, cousin, and I went to visit Henry B Clark in Hillside Cemetery. We put a grave marker on his grave and finally he was found. The thing that gives me goose bumps still today, is that HIllside Cemetery became the Clark/Olson cemetery of choice many years after Henry B was buried there. Henry B Clark died in 1907. His son John Henry Clark was born in 1905. Ninety years later they were resting in the same cemetery just up the hill from the son he never really got to know. My Grandpa John Henry Clark.
