Biography

Rebecca Clarke, the daugther of Thomas Clarke and Mary Canne, was born in England before her baptism in Banham, Norfolk August 26, 1610.[1][2][3]

Rebecca married Ralph Wheelock 17 May 1630 at Wramplingham, Norfolk, England.[4]

She arrived in Watertown, Massachusetts by 1637 with her husband[5] and her three children born in England, Mary, Gershom and Rebecca. According to family tradition, her fourth child Perigrina was born on the journey to New England.[6] Her siblings Rowland, Joseph, Mary and Elizabeth, as well as her widowed mother Mary, also came to New England around the same time.

Rebecca and Ralph resettled in Dedham by 1638, where four more children were born: Benjamin, Samuel, Rebecca and Experience. By 1650, they became one of the original families of Medfield, where their last child, Eleazer was born.

Rebecca died on January 1, 1680/1 in Medfield, Suffolk, Massachusetts.[7] She is presumed to be buried in the Vine Lake Cemetery in Medfield.[3]
