Clayton was born about 1888 to Hiram and Hattie Clark of Dickinson Center, New York. He married an Eva Clark (maiden name), also of Dickinson Center. Their children were Douglas, Erma, Harold, Keith and Wendall. When he passed away, he was buried in Bixby Cemetery, Norfolk, St. Lawrence County, New York. He shares a grave marker with his wife.[1]
