Biography

Jane Clark was born, according to her age son census records, between 1824 and 1826 in Virginia. A previous version of this profile claimed a birth year of 1819, without source.

By 1835, she had moved to Illinois. On 30 December 1835, she married Harrison F. Poindexter in Greene Co., Illinois.^[1]

In 1850, they lived in Winchester, Scott, Illinois.^[2][3]

In 1860, they lived in Windsor, Shelby, Illinois^[4]

Of interest is the "I" mark in the race column.

She might be the 44-year-old Jane Poindexter enumerated in 1870 as a domestic servant in the household of Illinois-born H.J. Thompson in Terre Haute, Vigo Co., Indiana,^[5] suggesting that her husband had died by this time.

Note that her daughter Flora married in Vigo County, Indiana in 1870.

A previous version of this profile claimed she was the same as the Jane B. Poindexter who died in Santa Ana, California in 1892.
