Biography

Frederick was born in 1872 in Chelsea, Middlesex . I believe his birth registration is in the June quarter of 1871 at Chelsea [1] .

In the September quarter of 1870 Frederick's mother Mary Ann Binden married Henry W Clark in the district of Chelsea , [2]. Henry had been married previously to Leticia Miller and had 4 children in his first marriage. Frederick's father Henry was a servant to the royal household or a lamplighter for the royal household.

In 1871 Frederick's mother Mary Ann was living at Mill Terrace, Chelsea, London, England with his father Henry, and Frederick's 2 step brothers ( Clement and Philip Clark) from his father's previous marriage, Frederick's grandmother Mary (transcribed Mary J Binder) and his Aunt and Uncle, Margaret and James.

In 1876 or 79 Frederick's father Henry married Caroline, as can be seen also in the 1881 census. Therefore it is believed Frederick's mother Mary Ann died between 1874 and 1879.

From the 1881 census I believe that there are two children of Henry W Clark that would have been born during his marriage to Mary Ann Binden , namely Frederick W Clark in 1872 and Charles J Clark in 1874. Frederick's father Henry married his third wife Caroline around 1879 and Frederick is living with them on the 1881 census, at Albion PL, 2, Alma Road, Clewer, Windsor, Berkshire, England [3]

By the 1891 census, Frederick's father Henry has died, Caroline is now the head of the household, including Frederick and Charles described as step sons, and a unmarried sister in law named Harriet Clark (must have been Henry's sister) born in London St Clement in 1813 and a married sister in law named Clara Barton who was born in 1828 in Clewer Green, Berkshire. Frederick is described as a telegraph clerk by occupation. They are living at Tyneham Road, Battersea, Wandsworth, London, England

Frederick has not been found on the 1901 census or afterwards, and a marriage reference has not been found {checked 14/01/2016}

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Frederick by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Frederick:
