He was listed in the 1783 list of Pictou or Tinmouth men capable to bear arms.[7]
In 1785, William Clark of "the County of Colchester and Town Tinmouth" purchased 300 acres lying "on the westward branch of the Harbour of Pictou about a mile above the Head of the side on the North sid[e] of the River".[8]
In March 1802 he purchased about 72 acres adjacent to his land on the West River from George Moore.[9]
William Clark of the West River of Pictou made his will 3 June 1802. He only named his sons John, William, and David, and daughter Janet.[10] His probate named his wife as Grizzel, that Janet was married to Alexander Archibald, and named another daughter Agnes who was married to David Rogers.[5] His estate entered probate by 2 September 1802.[11]
Research Notes
William's about 372 acres on the West River (now Durham) were the 375 acres granted to John Clark and William Clark in 1815[12] as a part of the Philadelphia grant.[13]
