Esther Clark was born on August 27, 1896 in Walworth, South Dakota, to Charles Clark and Cora (Young) Clark.[1] Both of her parents were born in Ohio.[1], [2]

Esther had at least three siblings, including Maud, Blanche, and Inah.[1] By 1900, the family was residing in Bethel, Minnesota.
