Biography
Married to James William McDowell by a Judge Barnes. They had eight children six boys James, Thomas, Joseph, Joseph, Charles, and Edward and two girls Mary and Jane. They moved to Phelps County in 1904 and in 1912 they moved to Dixon,Missouri where he died at the age of 92. James William McDowell enlisted in the Union Army in 1860. He was in the famous march from Springfield to Rolla, Missouri..He was in Company E, 6th Regiment of Missouri Calvary, Post No. 355. He was from a family of 8 children six brothers and one sister. His brothers were Matthew, Henry, George, Thomas, Ike and Dan. His sister, Polly Ann, married a Stewart.
