William married Mary Crispen Shelton in 1735[1] We know she was the widow Shelton, as in her will, while her name is Mary Clark, she lists her children by name: Ralph Shelton, Crispin Shelton, John Shelton, Benjamin Shelton, James Shelton, Elizabeth Davis, and Daniel Shelton. Two grandchildren, Reubin Shelton and Patient Caty Blakely are also mentioned, suggesting they took their deceased parent's portion of Mary's estate.
