All the foregoing signed a deed Jan. 25, 1823, to Joseph Hume, conveying land they had inherited from their Uncle Ambrose, and seem to have left Virginia, in masse

except Thomas, who died not long after in Orange Co., Va.

James Clark's will is in Book C., p. 342, Culpeper Co., Va., date June 7, 1789, proven Sept. 21, 1789. In this will he lends to wife for 10 years a tract of land in Orange Co., Va., and

This tract of land I now live on in Culpeper Co." He appointed his wife and brothers William and Joseph executors. The plantation in Orange Co., was about three miles from the town of Orange on the road to Madison Mills; the other in Culpeper Co., now Madison, on the south side of Roberston River, and apparently including the present village of Locustdale.

Immediately south of this Madison Plantation was that of his brother, William;

Rueben's plantation was near Culpeper. John was south of the Rapidan, east of the present village of Rapidan.

Capt. James Clark served in the Revolution from Culpeper Co.

James was born about 1737. James Clark ... He passed away in 1789. [1]
