According to the church records Samuel was born in 1639 and baptized in 1640, in New Haven Colony.[1]

When John Clark and his wife died in 1648, Samuel and his siblings were left minor orphans. Matthew Gilbert, John Wakeman, Samuell Whitehead, & John Moss, were by the Court, March 5th, 1649, appointed as overseers of the children and the estate of John Clarke, deceased. At Court Jan 10, 1658, John's age was stated as 21. Samuel and Abigail being over the age of 14 chose guardians. Samuel chose Abraham Doolittle and Abigail chose Samuel Whitehead. After expenses of raising the children for 10 years and some losses, John received 2/5 of the estate (37L, 7s, 10d). The other children received 18L, 13s, 11d each, which was delivered to their guardians.[2]

He died without issue before 1672.[1]
