Biography

William Clarke was born about 1634. On July 7, 1668, he was mentioned in a court record as having sold his right to certain land in Cape Cod. In 1684, William Clarke of Plymouth was granted a lease for bass fishing at Cape Cod for 30 pounds per annum.

William married (1) Sarah Wolcott in Plymouth on March 1, 1659/60^[1] and had several children.^[2] Sarah and several of her children were killed March 18, 1676 during King Philip’s War. He married (2) Hannah Griswold on March 7, 1677/8, in Saybrook, Connecticut (recorded also at Plymouth)^{[2][3][4][5][6]} and had four children.^[2] He married (3) Abiah Wilder on August 3, 1692, in Plymouth^[7][8][9] and had one child.^[2] William Clarke, the subject of this profile. died before March 28, 1720.
