Biography

1776 Project
Captain Obediah Clement II served with 12th Regiment, New Hampshire Militia during the American Revolution.

Col. Obadiah Clement born in the part of Kingston which later became Sandown. "His father and two of his older brothers evidently died in the French War while the third one sold to him his share in their father's property. In spite of his large holdings in Sandown, he went in 1773 to Warren, where he became one of the most prominent men of the town. He was a cooper by trade and worked at it throughout his life." In Warren built a cabin twice the size of any in town. "The logs were hewn smooth and the house was shingled. On the first floor were two large rooms, a cupboard and pantry, with two fireplaces of stone, while the garret contained four bedrooms. Each room had one or more windows for which the glass was brought from 'down country' on horseback. When this pretentious dwelling for the time and place was finished, Col Clement moved in and opened an inn. He was also the first miller at the little falls on Blackbrook. Tradition tells that he was a large, stout man, of quick motions." He was a delegate to the Constitutional Convention in Concord 10 Jun 1778., selectman of Warren 1783, 1784 commissioned a Major of 13th Regiment, 1786 made a Colonel.”Ances, & Desc. of Robert Clements” by Percival Clements . DAR Patriot Index shows him as a Capt. in the Revolutionary War, in NH., 8th Co. 12th Regiment. Col. Israel Morey.

I don't believe that Anna Clement is a daughter of Obediah and Sarah Batchelder. Their marriage is 4 years after her 1761 birth, and Sarah would have been 13 at her birth.
