William Clements, originally from Kentucky, bought land in Wayne Co., TN in 1829 from a Nathan Biffle.[1]
Emanuel married Martha Balch Hardin b: 4 Jan 1817 Wayne Co, TN - d: 26 Mar 1867 TX bur: Unknown (Daughter of Martha Ann Barnett and Benjamin P. Hardin)
They were in Mississippi in July, 1837 where his first child was born.
Arrived in the Republic of Texas in November of 1837.
From the book, The Tie That Binds we learn that Emanuel was the first sheriff of Limestone Co. TX, elected August 18, 1846, and serving until August 6, 1848.
In 1858, Emanuel moved his family to Gonzales Co. TX. He is listed on the 1860 Gonzales Co. TX Census. He is also listed on the 1862 Gonzales Co. TX Tax Roll with150 acres of land and 125 head of cattle.
