Biography

Margaret Clemmons is the daughter of Mary Clemmons. The name of Margaret's father is unknown.[1] Margaret was buried on the family plantation.[2]

Margaret's siblings were:

  • Martha Clem(m)ons, sister who married Rueben Johnston
  • Elizabeth Smith, sister
  • William Clemons, brother
  • Thomas Appling, half brother. Son of Thomas Appling and her mother.
  • Mary (Appling) Blanks, half sister. Daughter of Thomas Appling and her mother.
  • John Puryear, half brother. Son of Puryear marriage to her mother.
  • Robert Puryear, half brother. Son of Puryear marriage to her mother.
  • William Puryear, half brother. Son of Puryear marriage to her mother.
  • Sarah Puryear, half sister who married W. Royster. Daughter of Puryear marriage to her mother.

Margaret was married to John Bradshaw in Virginia.[3] Their children were:

  • John Bradshaw, Jr.
  • William Bradshaw
  • Benjamin Bradshaw
  • Thomas Bradshaw
  • Clemmons Bradshaw
  • Jeremiah Bradshaw
  • Richard Bradshaw
  • Elizabeth Bradshaw
  • Martha Bradshaw
  • Mary Bradshaw
  • Salley Bradshaw[4]

Margaret Bradshaw is named in the probate of her brother Thomas Appling. Thomas Appling died intestate in 1816 without leaving either a widow or children surviving him. Administration[5] of his estate was filed in Granville County, North Carolina. Petitions[5] were filed for division of his real estate which presumably fully identified his family living at the time.
