Regret will be felt at the news of the death of another well-known Western Australian identity, in the person of Mr. Waller Clifton, late of Wokalup, in the Sou'-West, who died at the Perth Hospital early this morning, after a short illness.
The late Mr. Clifton had been suffering for some little time with a throat affection, which eventually developed to such an extent as to necessitate him going into the hospital, which he did on the ad vice of his medical attendant. Subsequently consumption of the throat intervened, which in the end proved fatal, and the deceased passed away shortly after 6 o'clock this morning.
Mr. Clifton was a son of the late Mr. Robert Clifton, of Australind, who died some years ago. The late Mr. Robert Clifton was one of the earliest settlers in the Sou'-Western portion of the State, and brought up a large family of sons and daughters at Aus tralind, probably the best known homestead in the Sou-'West.
The late Mr. Waller Clifton married a daughter of Mr. W. Clifton, of Albany, who survives him, together with a family of ten children. For the past 30 years Mr, Clifton has been engaged in farm ing pursuits at Wokalup, situated be tween Harvey and Brunswick. He was especially well known and popular in the district, and his loss will be keenly felt. The deceased was a bro thor of Mr. Cecil Clifton (Under-Secre tary for Lands), Mr. Ed. Clifton, of Rosemill, Mr. Algy Clifton, of Alver stoke, and Wardon A. Clifton, of the Murchison. The funeral has been arranged to take place to-morrow.[4]
