Biography

John was born 8 Jun 1900 in Albia, Monroe, Iowa.[1]

In 1910 he was living in Bluff Creek, Monroe, Iowa.[2] The household included Elias E Clifton age 44 born in Illinois, wife Brta Clifton age 39 born in Iowa, son John M Clifton age 9 born in Iowa and daughter Anna Clifton age 6 born in Iowa. Elias was an electrical engineer. Roberta was the mother of 2 children, living.

He registered for the World War I draft in Mahaska, Iowa.[3] He was an auto mechanic.

John M Clifton and Zoe Bain were married 25 Jul 1926 in Audubon County, Iowa.[4] He was the son of Elias J Clifton and Roberta Moore. She was the daughter of Robert Bain and Edna Etta Plested.

In 1930 he was living in Evanston, Cook, Illinois.[5] The household included John M Clifton age 29 born in Iowa, wife Zoe B Clifton age 26 born in Iowa and son John B Clifton age 3 months born in Illinois. John was an electrical engineer.

In 1940 he was living in Ward 5, Calumet City, Thornton Township, Cook, Illinois.[6] The household included John Clifton age 39 born in Iowa, wife Zoe Clifton age 36 born in Iowa, son John Clifton age 10 born in Illinois and son Robert Clifton age 5 born in Illinois. John was a district superintendent for an electrical company.

He registered for the World War II draft in Illinois. He was employed by Public Service Co Of Northern Illinois.[7]

He died 4 Jan 1998 in Vero Beach, Indian River, Florida.[8][9]

He is buried in Rittman Cemetery, Rittman, Wayne County, Ohio.[10]
