John was born 8 Jun 1900 in Albia, Monroe, Iowa.^[1]

In 1910 he was living in Bluff Creek, Monroe, Iowa.^[2] The household included Elias E Clifton age 44 born in Illinois, wife Brta Clifton age 39 born in Iowa, son John M Clifton age 9 born in Iowa and daughter Anna Clifton age 6 born in Iowa. Elias was an electrical engineer. Roberta was the mother of 2 children, living.
