George William Clifton was born on 22 June 1894 in Reikorangi, Kapiti, Wellington, New Zealand, son of Samuel Weston Clifton (1859–1939) and Frances Alice Ann Allice Kells (1862–1915).[1]

George (25) married Nora Elizabeth Port (20) (born on 21 December 1899 in Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand; daughter of Ambrose Hughey Port and Sarah Elizabeth (Batt) Port) on 20 January 1920 in Dannevirke, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand.[2]

George died on 14 September 1978 in New Zealand, aged 84.[3] He was buried in Greytown Cemetery, Greytown, South Wairarapa District, Wellington, New Zealand (plot: RSA, Row 5, 85).[4]
