Biography

Mary was born about 1770^[1] possibly in Kentucky^[2] or Scott, Illinois.^{[3][citation needed]}. No record of her parents.

At about 22, in 1792,^[4] she married Jasper Blakemore Crain, possibly in Georgia.^[5]

They had a number of children, included the following: At about 25, in 1795, she and Jasper had a daughter, named Louise Crain.^[6] At about 26, in 1796, they had a son, named William Thomas Crain;^[7] At about 27, in 1797, they had a son, named John C Crain;^[8] At about 38, in 1808 they had a son, named William Blakemore Crain.^[9]

At 60, she and Jasper were living at Franklin, Illinois. ^[10]

At 70, on 10 Oct 1840, Mary Crain, of Washington Co., Illinois paid $50.00 cash for 40 acres (at $1.25 per acre) of land, being the SE quarter of the NE quarter of Section 7, in Township 2 south of Range 2 West, at Kaskaskia, Washington, Illinois.^[11][12]

At 80, in 1850, she died at Marion, Williamson Co, with Jasper dying in the same year.^[13]
