Ambrose Cline joined the Confederate army in Cleveland County, North Carolina on August 5, 1861 at the age of 22.[2]

According to the Ancestry.com "U.S., Civil War Soldier Records and Profiles, 1861-1865" database, Ambrose did not survive the war, but died of wounds incurred at Chancellorsville, Virginia.
