See biography of her husband, Johnathan Markley. He was one of twelve boys. He was born April 11, 1794, in Salisbury, Pennsylvania, and when he was twenty-one, moved with his parents to Ashland County, Ohio. Soon after, on September 10, 1816, he married Elizabeth Cline. They raised eleven children, five boys and six girls, moving in 1834 to Canton, Illinois. Johnathan died July 10, 1842, in Ellisville, Illinois. Elizabeth later moved with their son, Andrew Jackson, to Abilene, Kansas, where she later died. She is buried there.
