William Cline's birthdates range from 1817-1823 in various docs over time. Combined with census info and additional research, the 1817 date appears most accurate.
WHO are William's parents? Father could be Michael Cline who lived in the area, but I have been unable to confirm. One of William's sons has the middle name McClellan, as does a grandson and a nephew's (via sister in law Elizabeth Norman) son. William's middle initial is M; McClellan also? Could this be his mother's maiden name? More circumstantial evidence for a Scottish name/heritage might be that daughter Marian Cline was allegedly named after Marion, wife of Scottish Chief William Wallace; a son is named William W [Wallace?] Cline.
William was a shoemaker. He married Nancy Norman in Belmont Co, OH in 1838, and they had 13 children -- the first 11 were female!
