In 1795, Charles L. Cobbs was the Sheriff of Campbell County, VA.[citation needed]

Charles had been a member of the Presbyterian faith. He converted to the Baptist faith and became a Baptist minister.[citation needed]

He died March 3, 1798, in Brookneal, Campbell County, Virginia and was buried in the Cobb Family Cemetery, Brookneal, Campbell County, Virginia. His grave has no marker.[9]
