"On Thursday the 4th last, Mrs. Anna, widow of Butler Newcomb, dec., in the 74th year of her age. The deceased had been a member of the Baptist Church of Dividing Creek, 37 years, was baptized by Rev. Henry Smalley in 1809. Her illness was short and severe and when the hour had arrived for her departure she suddenly fell asleep in Jesus. 'Blessed in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.'"
