Biography

Celia was born about 1805. Celia was listed in the 1850 Census. [1]

Celia Jernigan Barrow (Cobb) - The more I research Celia, the more confident I become that she was the daughter of Benjamin Withington Jernigan, Jr, the clues are many, mainly in the renaming of her children and descendants with names of both Vashti and Vann... this naming trend is multiple throughout the tree, yet not on the Cobb side at all. The other major clue is in the 1870 census, Benjamin, and daughter, Emily were living with a Cobb family (one of the main arguments for the reason to call Celia, a Cobb) however, what has never been mentioned is that 1870 Cobb family included another daughter of Benjamin Barrow who was the wife in that census of a Cobb family. The other popular argument that she was a Cobb, was that her death was listed in the Cobb Bible, but that is easily explained since she was the Grandmother of many of the Cobb Grandchildren, since a couple of her daughters married the Cobb sons. (This is just a brief, quick note to mention the latest conclusions that I have realized. Have been trying to solve this for a while and would love to hear others opinions or agreements on this. She passed away about 1868. [2]
