Biography
James D. Cobb was born in Georgia about 1826. By 1848 he was living in Alabama for that is when he married Mahalia. They had known four sons.
James D. Cobb served as a private in Company B (Thomas R. Lightfoot's Company), 6th Alabama Infantry Regiment, under Field Officer Colonel James N. Lightfoot, during the Civil War. He enlisted March 7, 1861 at Abbeville, Alabama. The records list James Cobb as being hospitalized at a place unknown as of November 1862. He must have died because Mahalia remarried in 1865.
