Samuel Cobb was born October 12, 1654 at Barnstable, (then) Plymouth Colony, the son of Henry and Sarah (Hinckley) Cobb.[1]
He married Elizabeth Taylor on 20 December 1680 in Barnstable.[2]
Although his gravestone plainly says he Decd Sep ye 7th 1727 in ye 73d year of His Age,[3] his will however, was signed on 27 September 1727,[4] and the town[2] and church records both state that he died on 7 December 1727.[5]
Samuel Cob of Barnstable, yeoman, made his will, dated 22 September 1725 and proved 8 March 1727/8, named sons Thomas, Henry, Jonathan, Eleazer and Samuel Cobb, daughters Lydia Scudder, Sarah Barse, Mehitable Taylor and Experience Taylor, grandson Samuel Burse. Thomas and Eleazer to be executors.[4]
