Biography

On January 23, 1902, Bertha was born in Patrick County, Virginia.^[1]

In 1910, Bertha was living on her father's farm in Patrick County, Virginia.^[2]

In 1920, Bertha was living with her husband and children in Smith River, Virginia in Patrick County. ^[3]

In 1930, Bertha was living with her husband and children on their farm in Smith River, Virginia. Her race was listed as white on the census report. The census lists her age as 14 when she married. Per the census report, she could read and write. ^[4]

In 1940, Bertha was living with her husband and children in Horse Pasture, Virginia in Henry County. They owned their own farm. Bertha had a fourth grade education. ^[5]

On January 24, 1989, Bertha died in Henry County, Virginia.^[6]She was buried in the Harris family cemetery.^[7]
