Gilse D. Coffey,83 retired coal miner, died suddenly August 23 at his home in Revelo.
The son of Joseph and Ada Strunk Coffey, Gilse D. Coffey was born March 25, 1878 at Flat Rock, Kentucky. The family later moved to Scott Co., Tennessee,where he lived until 1927.He lived in McCreary County for 33 years.
He was married May 12, 1895 to Hannah Crabtree,who preceded him in death.
Survivors are four daughters; Mrs. Nora Hughes, Sloans Valley Kentucky, Mrs. Martha Merril, Dayton Ohio, Mrs. Pearl Perkins, Pine Knot and Mrs. Beulah Swain, Cincinnati and one son Willard Coffey, Revelo. A son Bill Coffey and a daughter Cassie(Carrie) Coffey preceded their father in death.
Funeral services were held from The First Hickory Grove Church of which church he was a member, Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. King and Rev. Maynard Blevins officiating. Burial was in the Lower Hickory Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bernard Kidd, Leslie Patrick, Charlie Taylor, Earl Privett, Luther Trammell and William Shelby.
