DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:

Thanks Richard! I signed up for a kit number and added it to my profile. Which DNA test is best for a female? What do I do now?! I offered to pay for my brother's test but he doesn't want his dna out there (kinda late since mine is out there!). Which is the cheapest good test for him to take? Thanks for the help, cuz!
I wish I could get my brother to take a DNA test. He is the last Coffey in our line. I have been tested but I don't know much about chasing down dna yet.
My paternal grandmother was a Coffey. Her father and several of his siblings migrated from County Clare to Connecticut in the late 1800s. However, on Ancestry.com, I see several DNA matches to people who claim colonial American Coffey ancestors. I also am a DNA match to Leslie Vander Wegan Thompson, listed above. I suspect that our common ancestors were Coffeys in Ireland, possibly Cork, in the early-mid 1600s (and that one branch remained in Ireland for ~200 years while the other migrated to Virginia). But I cannot trace my own Coffey line back any farther than about 1820 (as of March 2019).
For those seeking the date and place of death of JANE GRAVES COFFEY, widow of JOHN COFFEY of Albemarle Co., Virginia...there is a crucial document in the North Carolina State Archives in Raleigh.Dated 10 January 1793, it was written on behalf of Thomas and Benjamin Coffey, executors for their father John, and addressed the disposition of their father's estate "which was left in the hands of Jane Coffey[,] the wife of the Said[,] who died in the County of Wilkes [North Carolina] in the year 1792."
Graves-3520 and Graves-719 are both shown to be married to Coffey-481, and their names are almost identical. Their birth and death dates and places are very different, however. Was there a different John Coffey and were these Jean or Jane Graves different people?
Coffey-773 and Coffey-481 appear to represent the same person because: These are the same person as Jean(Jane) Graves was only married once. Family records show John B Coffey as being born BEFORE 7/16/1700 which could mean that date or before. They shown them getting married around 1928 with a date of death being either Mar 31/1774 or 1775. The family records were a joint effort of the Hollander, Coffey, Gragg, and Webb families, put together over 20 years ago by my mother, BettyAnn Hollander Vander Wegen. Each person who helped was given the book they put together so others may be working from my mother's book as well.
Coffey-481 and Coffey-1792 do not represent the same person because: this merge needs to be reversed to lower number profile. Will re-propose this merge in correct order
