Killed near Statesville and thought to be the last Confederate soldier killed in the war. His home was Memphis, Tennessee. Buried in the 4th Creek Cemetery in Statesville with Masonic honors. from Newspaper death notices - The Landmark, Statesville, North Carolina 1891-1899
