NOTE: There is no proof that JACOB COFFMAN was the ancestor of the Coffman's descendants of AMOS COFFMAN (RIN #186) listed in this database. JACOB died in 1792 and his estate was not settled until 1804. His widow, and five children received the property of JACOB COFFMAN, some 1400 acres, that he had settled in 1776. AMOS COFFMAN did not receive any of the land of JACOB COFFMAN who had died This would seem to indicate that Amos was not an heir. This also lends creditability to the tradition among the Coffman descendants that our oldest ancestor was adopted or raised by a man by the name of Coffman. This is all covered in the "Genealogy and History of a Southern Coffman Family" that I completed in 1995. Harold Coffman.

She went with her daughter, Nelly Coffman, to Missouri in 1828. Mary or Elenor or Nelly died at the age of 107 in 1844 in Clinton County, Missouri.
