Opal Fortenberry was born Nov. 22, 1912[1], in Rule, Texas. E.B. & Opal were the parents of two daughters: Joye Delaine Johnston b. 1934, and Virginia Mae "Gina" Morris, born 1935. She died Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, in Gainesville.[2][3]

Survivors: daughters, Joye Johnston of Gainesville and Gina Morris of San Antonio; sisters, Beatrice Skinner of Decatur, Pearl Fortenberry of Gainesville, Mary Jo Linker of Quinlan and Jackie Goin of Aubrey; brother, James Cogburn of Whitesboro; grandsons, Charles Morris of San Antonio and Mark Morris of Bedford; granddaughters, J'Lynne Johnston of Sherman, Carol Johnston of Euless and Julie Greene of Whitesboro; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.[4]
