He married Eunice Robinson on December 17, 1772. Together they had these children born in Concord:

Eunice Cogswell, b. Feb. 2, 1804, d. July 20, 1890 in Winchendon.
He died on May 13, 1808 in Concord, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States and was buried at Old Hill Burying Ground, Concord, Massachusetts.

"Emerson Cogswell died May 13, 1828 aged 64 years", and the marker condition is "chipped, cracked, flaked, discolored, oxidation, mower scratches"
