John Coit, son of John and Hannah Potter Coit, born Oct. 30, 1752, married Mary Mumford, daughter of Richard and Mary Mumford of Newport, R.I., Dec. 21, 1778. She was born June 28, 1753. She died Sept. 26, 1797. His occupation was that of a school teacher.
