William Coit, son of Samuel and Sarah Coit, was born at Preston, Connecticut, on 13 February 1734/5.[1]
Capt. William Coit married first Sarah Lathrop (at least 9 children) in 1759 and second Elizabeth Palmes (at least two children) in 1780.
From New London County, Connecticut: A Modern History:
"While the west bank of the Thames River (Norwich) was at that time the home of a number of sea captains and the site of shipyards, the section around Cove Street in the section then called West Chelsea, was almost undeveloped. The large stone house of Captain William W. Coit, on the present Fairmount Street, was the only prominent dwelling house of the section."

Marc, would you check this out? I may have added the wrong information. Were both these William Coits Revolutionary heroes? Or was it just Coit-115, son of Daniel and Mehitable Hooker? They were cousins and similar age. Let me know if I need to correct this. ~Angela
